Adios

I have a pretty thick skin, but after thinking it over - adios. It's just not one incident, but a gradual awareness that too many posts are confrontational and personal insults too common. I was raised in a time of "yes, m'aam" and "thank you" where you'd never think of saying to someone's face what I have seen posted here. Anonymity allows too much freedom. This is not the forums or the mods fault, God knows they try. I guess in the end, my skin is just not as thick as I thought... I thank everybody I have learned from here, and for all the interesting stories and conversation. Best of luck to you all... George

RE: A stunning senior moment

I have never subscribed to the theory that it's harder to grow up today than it was for us or for any other generation. While the trappings and outside influences may be different, it is the same for a young person today as it was for one in the Roman Empire or 1600s France. Like Doug said, youngsters learn from their elders and make the world into their own vision. As far as their qualities, there have been lazy and irresponsible youths throughout history. But at the same time, would you trade our young men and women serving overseas for any other generation? George

RE: Can acne be cured by any herbal treatments?

Geez, bumpy, lighten up! I was just expressing my opinion, which if it doesn't agree with yours is evidentally not allowed. You were the one that made a comment about the tinfoil hats and rays, implying that I'm a conspiracy kook or worse. I bypassed the insult in a very friendly way. The conversation was civil until then. So now you're going to take your toys and go home. It's an honor to be on your ignore list. "Course, you won't read this... George

RE: Can acne be cured by any herbal treatments?

I believe that "The new ID might be a regular member who doesn't want this question associated with their regular ID." probably hits it closer than those of you wearing tinfoil hats to protect you from the "rays". bumpy Bumpy, in the two years I have been active on rv.net I have read thousands of posts. While I have seen atrocious spelling, grammar and punctuation, this is the first I have seen with this type of phraseology Hello, I am 25 years old female and facing problems of acne. I have done lots and lots of things to make it cure but always get failure in that This is NOT a member disguising themselves to have an embarassing question answered. It COULD be a foreign-born person asking a legitimate question (or Mandrake playing a joke on us) but I don't think so. My tinfoil hat has served me well over the years, but you are registering pretty high on my "gullibility meter". :B George

RE: If Banks fail(Depression?) should I have Cash on hand?

If the economy collapsed, the most important things would be; 1) A safe hideaway 2) A supply of assault weapons and ammunition 3) a supply of non-perishable foodstuffs 4) A supply of medicinals and antibiotics 5) A supply of trade goods 6) Vegetable seeds 7) Playing cards and a Scrabble game George

RE: Ethos

Here is an interesting LINK. My natural scepticism says "If this product saves money, why isn't it being used by every major transportation organization/agency in existence? Example; school districts - think of the money saved on gasoline for school busses. Can you say "snake oil"??? George

RE: Open your TT windows for sway control?

Rather than open the windows, a better idea is to install a drag 'chute on the back of your TT. Then, when the sway begins to get out of hand, deploy the 'chute to stabilize the TT. Alternatively, add hydraulic flaps along the sides and adjust them as you drive to controll sway. George

RE: Hensley Hitch

I just wonder how many people went to a HA when all they may have needed was a simple adjustment to their current hitch setup?! It seems to go in one ear and out the other... Speaking only for myself, I own a Hensley because it ELIMINATES sway. I do not want a hitch that REDUCES sway. That reduction could be 0% - 99% but it is still REDUCING. In that context, it is impossible to have a discussion that doesn't involve RISK. While there are other risks in towing, it is a good thing to eliminate sway. If you are comfortable reducing sway by 80% or 90% or whatever with sway bars, that's your choice. I want the sway eliminated. That's my choice. I want my wife to be able to drive for stretches without worrying about her handling sway and how she will react if it occurs. Only 100% is good enough for me in that scenario... George

RE: Fresh Water - How Do I Know It's Full?!

Keep in mind that water weighs about 8# per gallon, so a 60 gal tank will add 480# to your TT. Best to fill it as close to your location as possible. George
